D.J. did the same. She clutched the quilt to her chin while the blood drained from her face. |

Rich Halloran stood at the foot of the bed. He stared at her with dislike as he pointed the missing .9 mm at her head. |

Rich's cold gaze switched to Chris and his eyes narrowed. "You're in bed with my wife, McCall. Get out." He motioned with the gun. |

Chris tensed. D.J. put her hand on his thigh beneath the covers, a signal to keep still and quiet. He got the message. |

Rich ignored her. "I told you to get away from my wife, McCall. Do it now or I'll shoot her where she lies." The gun swung back toward D.J. and Chris got up. |
